Position Title: Warehouse Supervisor
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Full or part-time status: Full-time

Reports to: Director of Basic Needs
Hiring Range: $20.00 - $26.00/Hr. DOE

Primary Function of Position
This position centers on overseeing all operations within the Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank to provide food assistance to low-income clients. This role entails maintaining stock levels, ensuring warehouse organization and cleanliness, and supervising both staff and volunteers in the food pantry. Moreover, the Warehouse Supervisor will interface with partner agencies, coordinate with the Office Manager, and fulfill monthly reporting requirements for the Utah Food Bank.
Major Position Responsibilities
  1. Warehouse Operations Oversight: Oversee all warehouse operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
  2. Food Handling and Distribution: Ensure proper storage and distribution of donated food items according to established policies and procedures.
  3. Grocery Rescue Program Coordination: Coordinate Grocery Rescue Program activities, including food pick-ups and deliveries, and ensure compliance with program requirements.
  4. Reporting and Policy Compliance: Ensure completion of reports and adherence to policies and procedures for the Grocery Rescue program.
  5. Inventory Management and Tracking: Track and inventory all received donations and distributed food assistance, following established policies and procedures.
  6. Logistics Assistance: Assist with directing transportation of food pick-ups and deliveries as needed, optimizing logistical operations.
  7. Staff Supervision: Supervise warehouse staff, providing guidance and support in daily operations.
  8. Volunteer Coordination: Supervise daily volunteers to ensure meaningful opportunities and assist in managing group volunteer activities.
  9. Community Relations and Partnerships: Serve as an agency liaison with stores and community agencies to foster efficient service and partnerships.
  10. Delivery Management: Assist in unloading/loading deliveries from various sources, ensuring timely and efficient handling.
  11. Confidentiality Maintenance: Maintain the highest level of client confidentiality in all warehouse operations and interactions.
  12. Other assigned duties as needed.

Work Environment
  1. Work in various conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings, and exercise caution when faced with icy and slippery conditions.
  2. Use of necessary personal protective equipment, such as ear protection, to ensure a safe working environment when operating equipment.

Physical Demands
  1. Prolonged Standing: This position entails working for extended periods while standing on your feet.
  2. Lifting Capability: The ability to lift up to 65 pounds is essential.
  3. Pallet Jack Operation: Using of pallet jacks to move heavy pallets and bins of food around warehouse.
  4. Driving: Operating a large box truck is required.

Education, Training, and Experience
  1. Education Requirement: A High School diploma or GED is required for this position; bachelor's degree is preferred.
  2. Warehouse and Inventory Skills: Basic warehouse and inventory skills are required qualifications for this role.
  3. Computer Proficiency: Experience with computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet navigation, enabling efficient data management and communication tasks.
  4. Supervisory Experience: Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role, showing the ability to lead and manage teams effectively, ensuring productivity and adherence to organizational goals.

Background Screening Requirement
  1. Must be able to pass a national BCI/FBI background check.

Licenses, certifications, and credentials
  1. Driving Requirements: A current Utah driver's license and provide proof of auto insurance meeting minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per incident. Additionally, be 21 years of age or older, maintain a clean driving record, and have the capacity to fulfill CCS vehicle safety standards.
  2. DOT Certification: Must be able to obtain a DOT Medical Card.
  3. Forklift Certification: While not mandatory, forklift certification is preferred for this position.
  4. Food Handler's Permit: Must be familiar with safe food handling procedures and maintain a current food handlers permit.

Position status and expected schedule
  1. This is a full-time position that works Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM. Some flexibility with schedule required in order to work occasional weekends and evenings.
