The daily duties of a Warehouse Specialist include loading/unloading incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment which include palletizing, wrapping, banding, etc for the transportation of products. Unloading incoming orders by unpacking, sorting, and placing in designated receiving areas. Visually inspecting incoming orders for damage and notifying Shipping/Receiving Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Unload trucks of various types, (Flatbed, Van, Specialty) in an orderly and safe manner.
- Examines shipments for any visible signs of damage and records proper information.
- Notifies Shipping/Receiving of damages, shortages, or non-compliance to specifications.
- Prepares orders for shipment and ensures items are safe from damage.
- Prepare outgoing customer pickup orders and ensures orders are properly identified and ready in staging areas.
- Maintain materials stored outside in an orderly and clean manner.
- Maintain facility property (outside yard) in an orderly and clean manner.
- Pull steel as needed for production needs and ensure its return to the correct location.
- Pull stock parts as directed by Supervisor for projects and identify them accordingly.
- Ensure the parts room is always kept clean and organized.
- Operate all forklifts in a safe and courteous manner. Make Safety a priority while carrying out the position’s daily activities and demonstrate defensive driving.
- Perform daily forklift inspections before use.
- Fuel or change propane tanks on forklifts as needed.
- Communicate with maintenance as needed to avoid service interruptions.
- Complete other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
PHYSICAL/ WORK REQUIREMENTS
- Requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and indoors in dirty shop environment.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, handle objects, stoop, bend and reach above shoulders.
- Requires lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Requires forklift certification (provided by the company).
- Moving/handling large objects.
- Requires verbal communication with delivery drivers.
- Includes exposure to contaminants (dust, oils, fuel, vapors).
- Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
