Job Title: Warehouse Clerk (Temp-Hire)

Department: Harris County Tax Office (HCTO), Distribution Center

Salary/ Hours: $15 per hour; Monday – Friday; 7:30 am – 4:30 pm (flexible)
Reports To: Associate Director

POSITION PROFILE
Responsible for filling orders, putting supplies on racks and any other duties assigned by management.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Fill and deliver all supply orders and inter-office mail for entire Tax Office Administration Building and all Tax Office locations
• Assist with projects at all Tax Office locations (downtown, branches and authorized events) requiring furniture set up, tear-down or assembly/rearranging of office equipment as needed
• Install and/or fix basic items such as remove or install keyboard trays, light fixtures; hang plaques/clocks; vacuum; minor miscellaneous repairs
• Work with Facility and Property Management (FPM) and FPM vendors on work orders during and possibly after-hours/weekends as required
• Audits vault inventory and vault log sheet
• Operate forklift
• Work Inventory Control software program as well as stock incoming and outgoing orders properly
• Work Records Retention software program as well as place records in their proper place on shelves
• Mail forms to customers through Call Center requests
• File and retrieve RTS records and returned items that are requested by the state, accounting or auto departments
• Other assignments as required

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
• A minimum of 2 years of paid warehouse experience
• Forklift experience preferred
• Excellent reading, verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer skills required
• Must be able to professionally interact and coordinate with other Harris County Tax Office departments
• Excellent attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work independently and function effectively in a team-oriented environment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• PC knowledge, Microsoft Word, and Excel are required
• Must maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Ability to operate Forklift
• Ability to work with various types of tools and machinery
• Demonstrated strong communication skills, tact and diplomacy
• Ability to juggle multiple deadlines and initiatives, which is a routine part of this role

WORKING CONDITIONS, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Typically, a warehouse environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level
• Evident physical effort required, which may involve long periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and lifting over 50 lbs.
• A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis
• Encouraged to wear cloth face covering, gloves when needed, maintain good hygiene and practice social distancing within the workplace
• Regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination)

Note: Harris County Tax Office does not provide pre-paid parking for its downtown location. However, parking is available at a daily rate by various parking vendors within the area.
