Warehouse Associate I - Evening Shift

Job Purpose Statement:

Warehouse Associate I position is a position that can be assigned to any of the roles of the below listed jobs at the manufacturing plant. The primary function of this position is for the employee to rotate between different jobs as business needs dictates- Sort & Pallet or Warehouse Utility

Required training will be given before being placed in a role.

Summary of Responsibility for each relief role:

Sort & Pallet

• The primary function of this position is to sort and package the finished tires to prepare for shipping to the customer or for storage in the warehouse.
• Will check to see what tires will be going out that day per a schedule
• Will check bar code printer for orders.
• Will make sure the correct tires are on the proper skid.
• Tires are sent via conveyor to many areas where it is maintained by 3-4 people at all times.
• Will place tires on correct skids and stack them properly/safely.
• When skid is full a label is placed with the skid for shipment or storage.
• Warehouse utility employees pick up full skids.
• Very minimal forklift usage. Under absolute necessity only.
• Must be able to meet the Ergonomic as well as the Physical Base Score for this position.
• Stand 30 %; Walk 70 % of a normal day.
• Lift/Carry 20 lbs. to 50 lbs.
• Pinch minimum 6 lbs.
• Grasp minimum 45 lbs.
• Full range of motion required: Cervical, Shoulders, Elbow, Wrist, Fingers, Hands, Lumbo Sacral Spine, Knees, and Feet.
• Working Conditions: 100 % Inside, Moderate Noise, Moving Mechanical Parts, Burns, Dust, Narrow Access, and Protrusions.
• Any lifting over 50 lbs. must be completed with assistance i.e. mechanical or individual.
• Exerting in excess of 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 30 lbs. frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Warehouse Utility

• The major function of this position is to ensure that all shipping and receiving documents and functions are completed in a timely fashion.
• Report to team leader for assignments.
• Will check forklift for usage.
• Will unload and load trucks with product.
• Clear the sort and pallet line of full skids for either the truck or the warehouse.
• Will "pick slip" get a variety of different types of tires and put on pallet as needed per order.
• Will use forklift to move product on and off skids.
• Will make sure paperwork and records are completed on all loads.
• Will make sure proper labels and tickets have been applied before shipping.
• Wrap the top of the filled skids with shrink wrap.
• Performs relief for the sort and pallet employees when four employees are not available.
• Must be able to meet the Ergonomic as well as the Physical Base Score for this position.
• Walk 50 %; Sit 50 %
• Lift/Carry up to 50 lbs.
• Push/pull 60 lbs. Static 60 lbs.
• Pinch minimum 6 lbs.
• Grasp minimum 45 lbs.
• Full range of motion required: Cervical, Shoulders, Elbows, Wrist, Fingers, Hands, Lumbosacral Spine, Knees, and Feet.
• Must pass company tests: Agility and Drug.
• Working Conditions: Inside and Outside, Extreme Heat and Cold, Slight Noise, Moderate Vibrations, Wetness, Humidity, Moving Mechanical Parts, Chemicals, Falling Inventory, Dust, Fumes, Odors, Steps, Handrails, Slick Floors, Narrow Access.
• Any lifting over 50 lbs. must be completed with assistance i.e. mechanical or individual.
• Exerting in excess of 70 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. frequently and/or in excess of 30 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

• High School diploma/GED required, or commit to obtain a GED with Carlstar sponsored GED program within 12 months of hire date
• Certification as a Forklift Operator
• Minimum of 1 year in a manufacturing/distribution operation preferred
• Must read, write and communicate in English as it relates to this position & to safety regulations.
• Must complete training program & meet company performance standards for the job.
• Must agree to wear proper assigned clothes & shoes approved for this job.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment while meeting production and quality goals
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid forklift or equipment license as needed or required
