Job Description
General Description:
This position will assist in the total Postal and Distribution Services operations as required, including operation of vehicles and material handling equipment. This position ensures the timely and uninterrupted sorting, pickup and delivery of College mail and parcels. The distribution includes to all College campuses, leased properties and satellite locations, as needed. This position will assist the Property Control Manager and Surplus Officer, as directed.
Duties and Tasks:
  • Accurately utilize the Pitney Bowes
  • Send suite receiving program and the UPS shipping software to insure timely shipping and receiving practices.
  • Render assistance to the Property Control and Surplus Departments to insure accountability of the distribution of mail, parcels and equipment to include surplus, donation or disposal items.
  • Render assistance in the handling and processing of surplus items, as time permits at the supervisor's discretion.
  • Assist in the accurate execution of all College Postal operations ensuring timely and uninterrupted services to the College from any and all required locations or locations where we are doing business for the State as directed by the warehouse supervisor or supervisor by proxy.
  • Assist in the effective operation of all warehouse operating systems to include delivery, pickups, receiving, processing, distributing and accounting of all college mail, inbound shipments and outbound internal and external shipping via UPS & USPS.
  • Sort and deliver mail and parcels. Receive mail and parcels. Assist with moving college surplus

Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
KSAs:
  • Working and safety knowledge of freight shipping, receiving & handling operations, Haz-Mat product handling, general warehousing operations, and the general safety rules and regulations involved in same.
  • Working knowledge of USPS rules and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain working, shipping & distribution schedules, to read and match shipments and paperwork to proper purchase order, to read and select store orders, and to fulfill orders for said items.
  • Ability to operate safely and defensively in heavy metro traffic all vehicles of various sizes from pick-ups, ¾ & 1 Ton vans to Cab-over diesel 16' Dry Box truck with a 4,000# lift-gate, including working knowledge of securing loads for delivery in same.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Outlook, PB Sendsuite system, PB Meter Mail machine and UPS software program.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to read, write and verbally communicate are required for interacting with all levels of the college administration, facility staff, vendors, common carrier representatives, USPS & Express Delivery Service representatives and the general public

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in a warehousing, receiving/shipping and/or postal operation.
  • Experience operating powered and manual material handling equipment (fork-lift, power jacks, and powered truck lift gates,)
  • Administrative experience
  • Valid and clean driver's license.

Additional Considerations
Additional Considerations:
  • Previous experience in Management or supervisory experience in procurement, asset management or warehouse position is highly preferred.
  • Training and re-certification for use of said material handling equipment (OSHA fork-lift and material handling licenses)
