Fast-forward from its start as a homegrown family business, House of Spices has become a middle-market wholesale/manufacturer which includes multiple distribution networks across the country. Although the business has and continues to expand rapidly, the brand is still family-owned and home-based out of the NYC metro area. We are looking for talented individuals to join our team-oriented culture!
The VP of Operation is responsible to manage day to day regional DC operations and overall warehouse management including inventory for House of Spices India Inc. This role will lead all regional Distribution Centers in driving a cohesive strategy that maximizes efficiency, quality, and distribution.
Essential Functions
▪ Manage operational improvement, warehousing/distribution, container management and facility maintenance.
▪ Work with Executive team to develop and execute the strategic plan and all capital planning for the company, while also maximizing growth and profitability of the business.
▪ Assisting with the development of the company’s longer-term supply chain strategy for all DCS
▪ Partner with Category Management team to meet business and operational targets
▪ Analyze inventory levels and supports the development of a replenishment strategy with Supply Chain
▪ Develop strategic solutions to optimize the ordering, receiving and delivery process.
▪ Collaborates with key vendors to drive improvements on key metrics, such as fill rate, lead time and out of stock for categories with few complexities
▪ Develop solutions to recurring issues within the fulfillment center based on knowledge of House of Spices operations
▪ Partners with multiple category GMs and/or Super GM to build and execute plans and actions to support the categories’ and company’s financial targets and objectives
▪ Deliver immediate and proactive support to HOS Distribution Centers.
▪ Change agent to evaluate and lead operational improvement initiatives including defining and implementing core processes so the business can accelerate growth and maximizes efficiencies at HOS Distribution Centers.
▪ Identify opportunities for efficiency and cost reductions and lead action to realize improvements
▪ Manage Operations Capex to optimize processes and accommodate capacity needs
▪ Build the company S&OP Process for all regional DC warehouses.
▪ Build KPIs (e.g., On Time Shipment / Pickup and On Time Delivery) for multiple categories with few complexities
▪ Coordinate DC activities through planning to ensure production and financial goals are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner
▪ Lead our team through your daily example, contributing to our values, our norms, our high standard of performance
Travel
Ability to travel up to 75%, occasionally working evenings and weekends as needed for special assignments.
Required Education and Experience
1. Bachelors Degree in Business or related field experience.
2. 5-10 years of large-scale (30-500 employees) distribution center leadership experience
3. Demonstrated experience instituting process improvements and reducing COGS while maintaining high product quality
4. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
5. Strong team building skills and ability to motivate others
6. Team-player mindset and willingness to collaborate
7. Willing to take responsibility and act independently when necessary
8. Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and must be able to work with ambiguity
9. Proven track record of a WMS to Change System Implementation
10. Possess the analytical skills to assemble large amounts of information in a consolidated manner
