Vial is a global tech-driven CRO providing next-generation clinical trial management services. The Vial CRO powers its drug discovery arm, Battery Bio, an AI-powered hyper scalable biotech. Battery Bio harnesses Vial's unique 90% lower cost structure to produce more affordable drug development with efficient, streamlined clinical trials.

Vial is a San Francisco, California-based company founded by Simon Burns in October 2020. Since our founding, we have become a fast-growing company of 100+ employees with over $100 million in funding from esteemed investors including General Catalyst, Box Group, and Byers Capital.

Vial is rebuilding the infrastructure to advance research. By deploying technology at every step, we are creating a more efficient future for drug discovery.

Overview

Vial is seeking an experienced VP of Finance to oversee all financial aspects of the organization. The VP of Finance will be responsible for developing financial strategies and plans that align with Vial's long-term goals and objectives, as well as supporting the company's mission of advancing innovative therapies to improve patient outcomes.

As Vial continues to grow, so do the size and complexity of our finance operations - Vial is looking for a VP of Finance who has experience across a broad spectrum of Finance disciplines to drive business outcomes that elevate the business.

Responsibilities
    • As a business partner to the CEO and leadership team, the VP of Finance will assess organizational performance against both the prior year results, the annual budget, and the company's long-term strategy.
    • Develops tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
    • Oversees long-term capital allocation, budgetary planning, and cost management in alignment with the company's strategic plans.
    • Advise the CEO on business development and strategic planning.
    • Assist in raising additional capital at appropriate valuations to enable the company to meet sales, growth, and market share objectives.
    • Reviews and supports the creation of board packages, quarterly and annual shareholder reports.
    • Ensures maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures for the company.
    • Ensures timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting to the company's CEO and leadership team.
    • Ensures GAAP, legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
    • Represents the company to business partners, analysts, investors, including financial institutions and auditors.
    • Managing all short and long-term strategic financial objectives of the company, supporting the executive team with vital financial information and operational analytics, and driving a culture of accountability in managing the business.
Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
    • Minimum of (5) eight of progressive experience in financial management required.
    • Experience overseeing Financial operations in a biotech or pharmaceutical company.
    • Track record of creating and improving systems and experience leveraging technology to gain insight and increase efficiency.
    • Strong people manager and developer with demonstrated success managing people and teams.
    • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships built on mutual trust and respect with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
    • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking and critical thinking skills with demonstrated experience identifying problems and implementing solutions.

This role is fully remote, based anywhere in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide sponsorship to work in the United States.
