Corporate Controllers at Jefferies are the gatekeepers of the Firm's books and records - responsible for coordinating with other controller, operations and other Finance groups to ensure that all activity is properly recorded and reflected in the General Ledger. Our focus is on controls and we work closely with various departments to ensure accuracy and the integrity of the Firm's financial statements at both the consolidated and legal entity level.
Job Description
- Obtain, review, and consolidate the financial results of numerous legal entities; Liaise extensively with various support groups to ensure proper presentation at the SEC level.
- Act as legal entity controller for multiple legal entities and ensure compliance with the legal entity control policies and procedures.
- Act as a knowledgeable resource regarding consolidation accounting and non-controlling interest.
- Responsible for the monthly consolidation process (e.g. equity pick up, intercompany netting and elimination), including the posting of journal entries as necessary.
- Responsible for the review and substantiation of certain general ledger accounts and balances.
- Supervise the responsibilities of one team member, including oversight over the settlement of intercompany balances.
- Partner with offshore colleagues in the managing and oversight of related responsibilities.
- Create, update and maintain process documentation and procedures, reducing inefficiencies where applicable.
Skills & Experience:
- 7+ years of relevant experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Proven ability to manage and motivate teams
- Strong accounting and analytical skills, with ability to understand, produce and explain income statement and balance sheet variances
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with teams across the organization as well as act as an effective liaison with external subsidiaries
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required
The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $155,000.
