Responsibilities

The Vice President, Airports is an officer of Spirit Airlines who operates as a core member of the executive team ensuring alignment and execution of strategic corporative objectives and initiatives. The Vice President is responsible for delivery of safe, reliable, efficient, guest-focused, and increasingly cost-effective airport guest service and ground operations.  The individual will lead the development of the Airport Services divisions vision, strategic plans, and tactical initiative execution.   

 

Responsibilities  

 

  • Safe Operations and Environment:  
  • Foster a “safety always” culture that results in safe workplace behavior and lowers safety incidents. 
  • Regulatory Compliance: 
  • Ensure that all Spirit and regulatory standards and procedures are followed. 
  • Achieve compliance with all FAA, DOT, TSA, CBP and Airport Regulations.  
  • Operational Performance:  
  • Develop and execute strategies that improve operational reliability, productivity and efficiency.  
  • Deliver Superior Guest Service:  
  • Laser focus on a Guest-centric culture through hiring the best talent, continuous training, rewards, recognition, and coaching. 
  • Build and Manage an Aggressive Budget, Lowering Unit Cost and Growing Productivity: 
  • Achieve and maintain an in-depth understanding of all division cost drivers and lead the division in the build and management of operating and capital budgets. 
  • Lead cost containment initiatives and ensure daily focus of Team Members on cost reductions. 
  • Sponsor, analyze and champion capital initiatives with clear financial pay back. 
  • Innovation to enhance Guest experience: 
  • Deliver continuous innovation through product and technological change management to provide increased guest satisfaction with a consistent Airport Experience. 
  • Ensure clear Guest communication of company policies throughout all channels. 
  • Explore, innovate, and implement technology that improves operational performance, increases guest satisfaction, reduces costs, and drives revenue up. (high importance) 
  • Lead and Grow Cross-Departmental Teamwork:  
  • Develop and communicate vision for the division, with clear expectations for strategic and tactical execution.  
  • Develop productive relationships with peer division heads to remove barriers to cross-functional initiatives. 
  • Create and Instill a Culture of Team Member Trust and Commitment:  
  • Grow team buy-in to company objectives and continue to build Spirit as an employer of choice. 
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments). 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree. 
  • 7+ years’ experience leading a large Team. 
  • Cost-focused operational leadership experience. 
  • Experience with collective bargaining agreement administration preferred. 
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, lead, coach, and develop a large team. 
  • Domestic & International travel approximately 25% of time 
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
