SUMMARY
This full-time exempt position coordinates all Volunteer Services, including recruitment, training, placement, and managing for state events and competitions as well as assisting regional staff on volunteer management at the area level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and manage volunteer recruitment tools, including new software and mobile tools to connect the community with the organization.
- Conduct bi-monthly recruitment sessions to recruit, educate, and select volunteers
- Facilitate the tracking of all volunteer information
- Establish and maintain relationships with corporate and civic groups for the purposes of volunteering
- Collaborate with programs staffing on the need of volunteers to fulfill the roles for competitions, campaigns, and games
- Assist with establishing Games Management Teams for the designated region and state competitions
- Assist Unified Champions Schools with developing volunteer opportunities at all levels; elementary, middle and high school, and SO Colleges
- Manage and oversee all volunteer activities at state competitions
- Support Development staff with sponsor volunteer opportunities and fulfillment
- Develop and implement volunteer appreciation programs for the region and surrounding areas
- Develop strategic plan for the region to continue to meet goals and objectives of maintaining a sustainable volunteer program structure
- Prepare all necessary reports and paperwork in a timely and legible fashion (i.e. program expenses, PO’s, credit card statements, staff reports, entry forms, annual census, grant reports, In-kind donations, keep public folders- contact list up to date etc.).
- Reevaluate Volunteer program as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS:
Passion for Special Olympics Texas
Screening: Must pass Criminal and National Sex Offender Registry background screening (Required for all staff)
Education: Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, administration or related field or equivalent experience
Experience: Non-profit experience, volunteer management
Knowledge: G Suite, Microsoft Suite, Givebutter, WhoCanBeThere, software knowledge is a plus
Skills: Strong organizational skill with the ability to manage multiple projects; effective time management, verbal and written skills, public speaking and customer service, bilingual speaking ability a plus
Work Schedule: Full time 40+ hours per week; This position’s work schedule will be determined by the demands of the position and will include evenings, weekends and travel. Flexible time is available with prior approval of the supervisor.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20lbs, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; frequently required to stand, reach with hands and arms through full range of motion.
Transportation: Must have your own reliable transportation with good driving history, valid Texas driver’s license and current insurance.
