Job Summary and Qualifications

As Volunteer Coordinator at our facility you will be responsible for leading a complex program with a focus on recruiting, training and supervising a corps of volunteers who perform critical support roles throughout the hospital. You will be an integral part of our amazing team, where we work hard to support the patients in our community and each other. We are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. In this coordinator role:

  • You will conduct all human resource functions for the department including recruiting, staffing, coaching, mentoring, reward and recognition, and performance reviews for a core staff of adult volunteers, chaplains, and junior volunteers.
  • You will analyze existing volunteer programs for effectiveness, initiate process improvements, and identify opportunities for new programs to serve existing and emerging hospital needs.
  • You will serve a pivotal role in customer and staff relations as a primary point-of-first-contact for the whole hospital, training staff and volunteers to model similar exemplary behaviors and skills to ensure very satisfactory interactions with all stakeholders.
  • You will plan, organize, implement and evaluate education and training opportunities for staff and volunteers.
  • You will develop and maintain written manuals and documents describing volunteer services, policies, job descriptions, and program operations.
  • You will ensure department compliance with regulatory standards via training refreshers for staff and volunteers.
  • You will plan and execute frequent reward and recognition communications and celebrations for Volunteers.
  • You will offer training to other professional and support staff (Nursing, Social Services, etc.) upon request.
  • You will develop strong linkages with community organizations and leaders to promote resource development and strategic partnerships.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or a related field preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in volunteer management, event planning, marketing, managing others.
  • Skilled with Word; Excel; Publisher; website update; databases; excellent people/communication skills.
