Job description

Job Summary: The Meals on Wheels (MOW) Volunteer Coordinator coordinates the day-to-day functions of daily meal deliveries in multiple counties. This position facilitates all volunteer & employee deliveries and assists clients with any concerns they may have. The Volunteer Coordinator onboards, trains, and builds rapport with all new and existing volunteers. This position plans and executes volunteer recognition events under the direction of the Meals on Wheels Program Manager. They will also fill in as a backup driver for MOW drivers when needed.


Compensation: The hourly wage for this position is between $18.00 - $24.00, DOE

Schedule:
Regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 6 pm. Work schedules will be determined by the employee and their Supervisor and/or Department Manager and approved by their Supervisor.

MOW Program Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Onboards, trains, and builds rapport with all new and existing volunteers through phone, text, and emails, responding in a timely and professional manner. This includes handling scheduling issues, questions, and concerns.
  • Coordinates annual volunteer appreciation events.
  • Monitors daily and weekly volunteer route holes and coordinates with volunteers and drivers to ensure all routes will be delivered.
  • Answers the main MOW phone line and responds to clients and resolves questions, concerns, or requests.
  • Manages routes including size, the area covered, volunteers and substitutes working the routes, drop-off and pick-up locations, and maintenance of those locations.
  • Participates in building community partnerships with the MOW Program Manager
  • Facilitates volunteer presentations and training.
  • Assist with the intake process for new clients including administering the state assessment.
  • Performs record keeping, data entry, file archiving, inbound phone calls, and reporting.
  • Completes general reception and administrative duties.
  • Receives calls and walk-in clients and provides general customer service.
  • Fills in as a backup driver for MOW drivers when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience facilitating a large volunteer operation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions
  • Proficient in Google Suite and MS Office
  • Considerable knowledge of Google Workspace, Zoom, and a willingness to learn new software applications
  • Patience & Flexibility to take on multiple projects at once with accurate data entry skills
  • Experience working and navigating between various database systems
  • Comfortable working with the older adult population

Education and Experience:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of volunteer management, administrative or related experience
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Bilingual, Spanish & English speaking (preferred)

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the individual to sit at a desk or in meetings for extended periods of time, regularly walk and stand, occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 15 lbs. Occasionally drives a motor vehicle within the MAG counties.
