Burial Beer Co is looking for a skilled leader with a strong service industry background to join our Retail team as the Beverage & Service Manager for our new VISUALS Wine & Cocktail Bar opening in Spring 2024. Our offerings will reflect the evolution of our inspirations with immersive experiences through beverage, so extensive experience with elevated service models that include wine and craft cocktail programs is required.

The Job
This position is primarily rooted in service management and execution. To succeed in this role, you have a deep passion for the wide world of beverage, you are happy to split your time between service and administrative work, and you are excited to uphold Burial's core values.
What You'll Do
- Develop communication strategies to integrate brand vision and company goals into Visuals operations.
- Maintain knowledge of Visuals budget and strategy, aligning with spending and revenue goals.
- Develop training programs focusing on beverage education and service protocols.
- Collaborate with the South Slope General Manager ("GM") on any HR needs
- Draft bar schedules to ensure adequate coverage based on anticipated volume.
- Create menus, recipes, and service protocols for daily operations and events.
- Implement standard operating procedures ("SOPs") for opening, closing, training, communication, cleaning, maintenance, and programming.
- Provide hands-on leadership during service to ensure operational success.
- Educate customers to enhance their experience with products and services.
- Place weekly beverage orders to maintain product variety and volume.
- Manage food and beverage inventories and ensure accurate reporting to finance.
- Develop food prep, execution, and presentation guidelines and staff training plans.
- Uphold ABC compliance standards and maintain organized alcohol invoices.
- Contribute to onsite organization, operational needs, and product movement.
- Schedule regular front of house ("FOH") meetings for product, event, and service education.
- Collaborate with South Slope leadership to ensure overall site success.
- Communicate changes, updates, and release notes to FOH staff.
- Delegate tasks related to new releases, inventory, and point of sales ("POS") updates.
- Monitor process and facility improvements for efficiency and customer experience.
- Ensure site cleanliness and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Establish communication flow between Visuals/Eulogy/Collier in collaboration with South Slope leadership.
- Facilitate staffing, communication, and execution of private events.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and manage customer communications.
- Place poster and signage requests to the Brand Department.
- Collaborate with Retail leadership on growth and improvement strategies.
- Manage and file injury reports or behavior incidents.
- Perform additional tasks as needed.
Who We're Looking For
- 3+ years experience in high-volume bar leadership role is a plus
- Staff training and development experience
- Sommelier Certification or equivalent wine knowledge base is preferred
- Experience creating and executing a robust craft cocktail program
- Experience developing promotional and marketing directives
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict management abilities
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work on your feet for most of the day and lift 50 pounds at a time
- Attention to detail
- Must have open availability

- Reports To: South Slope General Manager
- Employment Type: Full-Time Hourly + tips for bartending hours, and an admin rate (no tips) for administrative work
