Visual Designer

Discovery Education is looking for a Visual Designer. You will work under the supervision of an Art Lead to produce high-quality work. This position will work collaboratively with the design, curriculum and product teams to ideate and execute on creative strategies that meet department and project goals.
This is a remote 6-month contract role.
About the Role

• Working with the Lead Artist to capture and develop a Figma style guide for Reading and Math grades 3-5.
• Editing existing workfiles to make current math lessons color contrast accessible.
• Creating and updating the DreamBox Learning Reading Park library images.

Requirements

• BFA in visual Interaction design or similar field.
• At least 3+ years related experience.
• Eye-catching portfolio reflecting experience in digital interaction design, and design for learning (including student and teacher resources).
• Figma or similar wireframing tool (required).
• Deep understanding of game design and related UI/U .
• The ability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
• Creative industry experience or a background of working as part of a design team a plus.
• The ability to see projects through from inception to production.
• Good organizational skills that support the rest of the team.
• The motivation to maintain and improve design standards.
• Experience creating and utilizing comprehensive design systems and style guides across multiple areas of product. Adding to the current design system through research, wireframing and component design.

• Adeptness with additional leading interaction design software:
• Adobe Creative Cloud, particular to Photoshop, Illustrator and Animate (preferred)
• Gaming design, 3D rendering, and development software could include but is not limited to Unity, Blender, Adobe Animate
• Basic understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Illustration skills - Procreate a plus
• Legal right to work in the United States.
