The Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center (REEEC) within the Illinois Global Institute is searching for a Visiting Project Coordinator. The Visiting Project Coordinator will organize and execute budgetary, logistical, communications, and advancement support for our federally-funded Research Laboratory programs on Russia, East Europe, and Eurasia. This position will also collaborate with REEEC, Illinois Global Institute (IGI), Slavic Reference Service (SRS) and other University personnel on these programs, and oversee graduate and undergraduate student assistants working on the Research Laboratory programs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees grant budgets, supervising all transactions through University payment systems, managing accounts, and preparing quarterly and annual reports for submission by SPA
- Organizes and executes administrative and logistical support for the Research Laboratories, including such tasks as running program correspondence, keeping our program calendar, making travel and hospitality arrangements, and overseeing Graduate Assistant hourlies
- Coordinates grant writing and submission process for our Title VIII Research Laboratory Program on Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia, in collaboration with REEEC and Slavic Reference Service (Library) staff; Conducts or oversees data collection and compilation, creates and submits Title VIII grant reports
- In conjunction with the IGI unit communicator, will develop and support the advertising and web pages for the Research Laboratory and its activities.Will develop and support the application process and review for the Research Laboratory program
- Research and develop plans for program advancement, including new grant opportunities, private donors, Research Lab alumni outreach, and outreach to foundations, in collaboration with REEEC and SRS staff
- Assists in the development and execution of Research Laboratory programming, including our annual Research Training Workshop as well as our annual summer Fisher Forum conference or workshop
- Other duties as assigned to further the mission of REEEC
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor's Degree
- A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in one or more of the following: budgeting, grant writing, and/or project coordination. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
Preferred
- Master's Degree or PhD in international or area studies (particularly preferred: background in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies); proficiency in a language of the region
- Training or background in grant administration, including proposal development, reporting, managing funds, evaluation, fellowship administration, including application design (particularly preferred: familiarity with University of Illinois or Federal grants administration or payment systems);
- Experience in program administration or coordination and hosting events, including logistics, travel, hospitality arrangements;
- Experience designing and implementing surveys, analyzing survey data
- Experience supervising student staff
- Experience in development or fundraising

- Working knowledge of PC's, software packages, and University systems;
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Adobe programs, Wordpress, Webtools, and ATLAS Formbuilder (or similar programs used at another institution);
- Interest in developing a public university fellowship program that serves an interdisciplinary audience of students and scholars from around the world;
- Ability to create, manipulate, and analyze data sets for grant reporting; ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data;
- Knowledge of sponsored program activity within a complex research environment;
- Familiarity with current events in the region;
- Familiarity with campus units and academic programs;
- Ability to gather facts and apply this knowledge to solve complex problems;
- Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills;
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment;
- Accuracy and consistent attention to detail;
- Ability to work under the pressure of multiple deadlines
Appointment Information
This is a full-time Visiting Academic Professional position appointed on a 12 month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline date.
Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
The target salary range for this position is $52,000 - $54,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
