Our Organization and Mission:The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.


Pay: $50,000 Annually


Position Summary: This position is in the Division of Victim Services and Criminal Justice Programs with the Office of the Attorney General. As a Victim Services Program Specialist, you will serve as part of a team of regional victim advocates across the state.


Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree from an acredited college or university and four years of professional or non professional experience in administrative work, accounting, auditing, probation and parole, corrections, claims processing, claims or benefits eligibility determination, social or VICTIM SERVICES.
A Master's degree in a related field can substitute for the required experience.
Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.


Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • At least two years of experience providing direct services to crime victims.
  • Experience working with crime victims in the court process.
  • Familiar with the principles and techniques of effective crisis intervention.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and are comfortable with public speaking.
  • Work independently and effectively manage time while completing a variety of tasks.

** Applicants chosen to move forward to the interview stage will be required to present a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation, utilizing 5 slides regarding the criminal appeals process in Florida. **


The Work You Will Do:The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate and deliver training and outreach presentations to allied professionals regarding Division of Victim Services programs, such as the address confidentiality program and victim compensation.
  • Notify crime victims of all significant events in the criminal appeals process in cases where they have been identified as a victim of the crime and provide direct victim assistance as appropriate.
  • Explain the appellate court processes to victims to keep them informed, act as a liaison between the Assistant Attorneys General and the victims, and accompany victims to appellate court hearings as appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with others by attending and participating in local community meetings, outreach events, task forces, and fatality review teams pertaining to VICTIM SERVICES.
  • Serve as liaison between the Office of the Attorney General and local victim service providers regarding services for crime victims in Florida, provide technical assistance related to victim compensation claims as applicable, and assist in identifying gaps in services.
  • Respond to incidents of mass violence in the state and assist with the victim compensation application process.
  • Ensure that necessary services are coordinated and provided within the assigned geographical area.
  • Prepare and submit accurate monthly statistical reports on activities and services to crime victims.
  • Work as part of a team to complete special projects as directed
  • Complete special assignments and perform related duties as assigned.

NOTE: These duties involve extended work hours and travel outside the work site.
