The Victim Service Coordinator is responsible for providing advocacy, support, and resources to survivors of sexual assault and victims of crime. The Victims Serivices Coordinator exemplifies, PAV's core values of Partnership, Dignity, and Respect and supports the agency's mission and vision. The ideal candidate is a passionate, creative, positive, team player who likes to be active in the community working with diverse populations in marginalized communities to address root causes of gender-based violence. This position is part of the on-call staff rotation providing 24-hour crisis response to affiliated hospitals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as a sexual assault counselor as defined in the CA Penal Code.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention, emotional support, accompaniment, and advocacy to survivors seen in the emergency departments of partner hospitals and at local law enforcement agencies.
- Provide in‐person support, crisis intervention, and information and referrals to survivors of crime and their significant others.
- Provide ongoing advocacy for survivors, including an explanation of the legal process; accompaniment to the police station and District Attorney’s office through the court system; and information about non‐criminal justice options.
- Carry a caseload of active clients and keep these clients regularly apprised of their case status.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all services delivered and adhere to agency and departmental documentation submission requirements.
- Attend all staff/supervision/case consultation meetings, attend multidisciplinary meetings with partner agencies, and participate in staff development activities.
- Participate in meetings/training for local and statewide sexual assault coalitions, institutional partners, and other agencies, as assigned.
- Complete monthly reports and documentation, including assisting the Program Director with statistical reporting.
- Collaborate with staff and leadership in order to enhance the effectiveness of the agency’s services and support the overall mission, vision and values of Partners Against Violence.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Provide flexible response as needed to ensure community and survivor needs are met.
- This position may require weekend evening and overnight hours as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related field.
- Bilingual (written and verbal fluency) in Spanish/English strongly preferred; Bicultural strongly preferred
- Ability to objectively advocate for the needs/rights of others
- A positive attitude and proactive approach to problem-solving are a must.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational, documentation, and data-tracking skills
- Previous experience providing advocacy services to crime victims is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working on women’s and/or human rights issues, addressing sexual violence/gender‐based violence, and working with diverse populations, including LGBTQ communities strongly preferred.
- Completion of a 40-hour Crisis Response Training within 30 days of hire is required; previous completion of the training is very strongly preferred.

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
