Position Summary

This Executive is responsible for leading the Patient Access Support Services team within the US MAx organization. Individual is responsible for setting a vision and directing strategy, development, implementation and management of BMS’ patient reimbursement and affordability programs across the US portfolio. The primary objective of this position is to manage daily operations of more than 100 individuals and associated vendor operations, responsible for providing access programs, resources and reimbursement support in a consistent and compliant manner. The organization is structured, inclusive of a home office based program management team, as well as field based teams consisting of Access and Reimbursement Managers. This position works closely with US MAx Access Marketing, Brand Marketing, Legal/Privacy, Compliance, Field Sales, Procurement, IT, as well as other key internal matrix team partners, external customers, trade associations and critical vendor partners of BMS.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead ongoing needs assessment in support of US Patient Access and affordability for BMS portfolio; Sponsor development and implementation of Reimbursement and Affordability strategies and programs
  • Fiscal responsibility for operational and related program budgets, ensuring appropriate allocation of budget against execution and enhancements to Patient Access and affordability strategies - Vendor and project management oversight
  • Set specific and measurable objectives and tracks and analyzes performance data against these measurements
  • Support development of necessary policies/procedures that govern patient support programs and comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of BMS
  • Build and lead a team of motivated leaders by creating and articulating a vision that supports and enables successful achievement of objectives aligned with broader US organization
  • Maintain deep market access expertise and anticipate implications to brands and Patient Access across therapeutic areas. Execute PASS strategy with team and develop appropriate messaging with stakeholders. Oversee partnership with external patient support program vendors
  • Lead efforts with outside agency, elevating BMS’s commitment to Patient Access through materials and tools that will help patients access medications.
  • Internal/external stakeholder engagement – Serve as strategic resource and support on patient assistance programs to key internal functions; foster and build strategic relationships with service providers, leveraging new technology solutions to further enhance operational efficiencies
  • Actively facilitate the growth and development of team members based on their needs, motivation and business requirements
  • Create an environment of continuous learning where team members feel challenged and engaged
  • Foster team effectiveness within matrix team by sharing knowledge, experience, and information

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 10+ years of pharmaceutical and/or Healthcare industry experience including experience in managing a commercial / functional support / operations team, customer facing field organization, reimbursement (specifically buy and bill products), marketing, provider and managed care is required
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguous and evolving US healthcare landscape
  • Strong track record of driving results in a complex internal and external environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, with strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
  • Demonstrate capability as an established leader including Enterprise Mindset, Change Agility, Authentic Leadership and Talent Developer
  • Undergraduate degree required, MBA and/or post graduate degree preferred
