The Vice President of Lending provides direction and management to the Business Operations and Underwriting, Mortgage Lending, Consumer Lending, and Indirect Lending areas of Commonwealth Credit Union.
The VP of Lending serves as a member of the executive team and is responsible for the creation of a sales culture that ensures members are exposed to and encouraged to utilize the products and services of the credit union.
The VP of Lending develops and fosters the personal and professional growth of the department's personnel to ensure the continuity of skill and philosophy necessary for a strong lending function.
This position requires the individual to provide detailed information on Home Equity and/or Mortgage Loans; therefore, NMLS registration will be required. If the individual is not currently registered, they will need to pass the applicable background screening to be registered. This screening may be different than what was required for the individual to become employed by the Credit Union.
The duties and responsibilities of the VP of Lending include, but are not limited to:
Leadership:
- Supervising the operation of Business Operations and Underwriting, Mortgage Department, Loan Department and Indirect Lending.
- Monitoring loan production and looking for ways to increase usage of these products and services.
- Leading or participating in special projects and/or committees assigned by senior staff, reporting results in a timely manner.
- Implementing policies, procedures and rules in an appropriate manner.
- Continually looking for ways to improve department results, developing and implementing procedures to ensure efficiency and overall effectiveness.
Sales Culture:
- Establishing and cultivating a sales culture within the Loan Department and Indirect Lending, monitoring results and working directly with Operations Department and Loan Department managers to exceed expected sales performance.
Communication:
- Serving as communication link between Business Operations and Underwriting, Mortgage, Loan Department, Operations Department and Indirect, as well as other Credit Union departments, and ensuring a positive and supportive relationship is maintained.
- Communicating effectively with members and staff at all levels.
- Encouraging open communication and the sharing of ideas between all staff and departments.
Compliance:
- Maintaining awareness and enforcing compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
Coaching:
- Monitoring staff and supervisor's ability to recognize and meet member needs.
- Providing additional training to enhance skills and effectiveness, when necessary.
- Developing staff by providing support, training, coaching and timely feedback.
- Is a positive role model in communication, ethics, teamwork and service.
