Position Summary:
ultrainnovative - Tackle rare and dynamic challenges
The leader is responsible for leading medical strategy in 3 key areas of medical focus - Bone, Metabolic (Inborn Errors of Metabolism), and Neurology - and all products (pipeline and commercialized). The role leads the function via a team of therapeutic area Global Medical Leads and Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs). The role will report to the SVP Global Medical and represent all therapeutic areas on the Medical Affairs Leadership Team (MALT) and other decision making and governance bodies at UGX.
Work Model:
Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.
OR
Flex: This role will typically require onsite work 2-3 days each week, or more depending on business needs. In many locations, the business will set certain days each week that Flex employees are required to be onsite.
Responsibilities:
  • Will lead the design of the Global Medical Strategy for all Therapeutic Areas and Products working in collaboration with Regional Medical Leaders and their teams
  • Will develop, own, participate and where appropriate supervise the Integrated Evidence Plan (IEP) for all products including input to Disease Monitoring Programs
  • Overall lead of all Global Medical Sub-Teams (GMST) functions
  • Will assist in knowledge transfer to all Global Regions both reactively and proactively ensuring bi-directional communications between GMST and Regional functions
  • Will share best Medical Practices across all regions
  • Will be responsible for the MSL organization and continue to evolve the performance of this high functioning team
  • Will actively participate in Investigator Sponsored Trials and Compassionate Use decision making
  • We be responsible for deep scientifical and clinical expertise within these areas and its dissemination.
  • Will work cross-functionally on the above with all key stakeholders including, Regional Medical Teams, Health Economics and Outcomes Research, Molecular Diagnostics, Medical Services, Patient Find, Patient Advocacy, Commercial and related other Departments
  • Provide scientific and medical leadership as needed for publication planning and execution
  • Support high-quality execution of Corporate-wide initiatives.
  • Exhibits leadership skills within and outside of the organization (including people skills, mentoring, presentation skills and professional interaction)

Requirements:
  • MD required with Board Qualification in one of the 3 area of focus: Bone, Metabolic (Inborn Errors of Metabolism) or Neuro
  • Greater than 15 years Biotech/Pharma Industry Experience
  • Rare Disease experience in Medical Affairs
  • Clinical Development Experience is a plus
  • Global Experience in Medical Affairs
  • Ability to travel at least fifty-percent of the time #LI-CS1 #LI-Remote

The typical annual salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.
Pay Range
$329,200 - $406,700 USD
