Job Description Summary
The Collateral Manager is responsible for overseeing all functions of the collateral process within the Loan Operations department. This management role facilitates operational expertise across various products and functions, including planning, organizing and executing on operations responsibilities. This is a key role in providing the strategic, developmental, and managerial direction to various department leaders that oversee loan operations.
What You'll do
Management and oversight of the day-to-day activities of departmental staff across the Loan Operations area, including and without limitation to:
- Collateral tracking, processing and releases, including motor vehicles, real estate, UCC tracking and continuations, and other types of collateral
- Flood Insurance review and monitoring, ensuring adherence of regulatory and organization requirements
- Collateral insurance and real estate tax monitoring on all loans, consumer and commercial
- Management of escrow process for both consumer and commercial including payment of real estate taxes and insurance premiums on escrowed loans.
- Payoff quotes
- Quality Assurance review and reporting of all loan system maintenance
- Subpoenas and other legal document requests, including document production, and tracking
- Credit Bureau Disputes, including research, required responses and tracking.
- HMDA/CRA reporting
- Review and report pledging of collateral to the FRB and FHLB
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor workload and prioritize projects to ensure tasks are completed timely and accurately. Support the team in delivering an exceptional experience for both internal and external customers.
- Updates to policy and procedures to ensure consistency with changing state and federal regulations. Identify and mitigate operational risks associated with the Bank's products and services through the implementation of controls and procedures. Oversee the implementation of corrective action associated with audit and examination deficiencies as they pertain to operational functions.
- Participating in the hiring, salary, promotion and termination recommendation process. Set Team goals and complete staff evaluations with various department managers.
- Review and ensure vendor invoices are processed in a timely manner and that service level agreements are met.
- Assist with research requests, audit reviews and department projects as needed.
- Keeping abreast of regulatory compliance guidelines and Bank policies and procedures. Disseminates information to direct reports as necessary. Providing knowledge and expertise on complex escalated issues in order to procure resolutions.
Job Skills:
- Superior, professional verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and concisely with senior management, colleagues, customers and their representatives as well as outside agencies on a regular basis.
- An extensive knowledge of commercial, consumer lending and real estate loan documentation and regulatory requirements including Flood Insurance Regulation.
- Capable of working in a high stress, fast-paced production environment while maintaining a courteous and professional corporate level demeanor with a deadline driven sense of urgency and creative ability to multi-task during periods of intense pressure.
- This job requires superior organizational skills combined with excellent analytical and logistical problem solving skills. The candidate must be seasoned, comfortable and adept at planning, implementing and follow-up to ensure consistent performance results and successful deployment of resources to achieve long term goals.
Knowledge/Skills/Background/Experience
- Minimum 7-10 years directly related loan operations experience
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience managing teams of varied skill levels
- In depth knowledge of complex commercial loan transactions and associated documentation
- Strong knowledge of consumer lending regulations
- Analytical. Must have ability to analyze exception reports and implement resolutions; attention to detail is required
- Self-directed. Must possess the ability to work autonomously and to prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
- Above average knowledge of existing IBS and/or ACBS (FIS products)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, proficient in Excel
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
