Job Objectives:
This position is responsible for oversight and execution of successful treaty placements in support of direct underwriting operations for primarily North America and, as necessary, Global Markets Insurance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working with Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims and others as appropriate to review reinsurance requirements and analyze structure alternatives.
- Develop and manage relationships with reinsurance brokers and reinsurance markets to facilitate placements, execution of contract wording, timely claims payments and gain market intelligence.
- Work with Underwriting, Finance, Actuarial and Claims to gather data to assist in reinsurance submission preparation (data to be provided to broker who will prepare submissions).
- Liaise with the Legal Department in the drafting of reinsurance contract wording in accordance with company standards.
- Evaluate treaty reinsurance quotations; negotiate transaction to support US business requirements.
- Coordinating the availability of documents and timing for claims, underwriting, transactional, and Ceded Re audits as well as audits performed by external auditors.
- Coordinate and track execution of contract wordings to full completion and maintain electronic filing archive.
- Summarize Treaty Terms and Schematics.
- Maintain Reinsurance Resume document that provides historical detail of terms for treaties previously written.
- Stay current with industry issues and developments.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with the tenets of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- A minimum of 15 years of Reinsurance related experience
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong attention to detail and quantitative skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and prioritize tasks
- Ability to work with various internal constituents, including underwriting, claims, actuarial, finance and IT departments
- Ability and willingness to work outside normal office hours and global travel as required
Compensation:
$175,000 - 200,000
The annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market. The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment. Base salary represents one component of Allied World's comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.
