Salary + Bonus
Southern Glazer's offers a competitive compensation package with expected first year total earnings of $185,900-236,500 / year plus bonus. In determining a final offer, the company will evaluate a specific candidate's education, skills and experience and will make an offer appropriately.
Overview
This Vice President & Associate Counsel, Compliance and Ethics manages the company's compliance program for the West Region. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Compliance & Ethics, the role will contribute to the strategic direction of the compliance function, implementing compliance controls and training, and achieving compliance with applicable laws and industry standards.
Primary Responsibilities
• Reports to the Senior Vice President of Compliance & Ethics and is a part of the leadership team for the function
• Serves as the main point of contact for regulatory compliance in the West Region and will be part of our continued work to develop and build out the Compliance & Ethics function
• Applies judgment and expertise in regulatory matters across compliance areas, especially as it relates to the laws, rules and regulations for the alcoholic beverage industry
• Participates in compliance risk assessment and the design, implementation, and maintenance of an effective compliance program that addresses potential risks, incorporates lessons learned, and continuously improves
• Participates in the development and delivery of training programs for employees at all levels
• In coordination with others, directs or conducts internal investigations into potential compliance violations, ensuring thorough and timely resolution of issues, and recommending appropriate corrective actions
• Participates in periodic compliance audits and assessments to identify areas of improvement and support ongoing adherence to compliance standards.
• Monitors the ever-changing regulatory landscape and ensure appropriate enhancements
• Supports the development of tools, standards, and metrics (e.g. dashboards, systems, testing)
Additional Primary Responsibilities
• Provides regular updates on compliance matters, potential risks, and program effectiveness
• Supervises periodic compliance audits and assessments to identify areas of improvement and support ongoing adherence to compliance standards
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate required
• Hybrid, 3 days per week in office in Oakland
• Active license to practice law and ability to qualify as in-house counsel in California.
• 10+ years regulatory compliance experience in large organizations
• Experience serving as the primary lead with regulators
• Effective communicator with credibility; adept at influencing and engaging with all types of audiences
• Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to apply business judgment and risk analysis to complex legal matters.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Enabling a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive environment for all colleagues
• Working knowledge of laws, rules and regulations for the alcoholic beverage industry strongly preferred
• Travel approximately 25% to meet with internal clients, attend legal education and industry seminars, and participate in company meetings
