About the Role

In order for the global energy system to make the transition from a carbon-based grid, to a renewable energy grid, large scale energy storage must be introduced into the electricity system to balance intra-hour supply and demand. Energy storage is the enabler of high penetration variable renewable generation like solar and wind. We are looking for a Vice President, Asset Operations to join the Asset & Risk Management team.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive cross-functional initiatives and projects across the Plus Power Operating Company, including Operational Technology, Asset Management, Trading and Risk Management
- Direct the establishment of processes and controls for all areas within the Operating Company – including Asset Operations, financial performance, and Operational Technology – ensuring top decile performance in the industry
- Support the Plus Power Operating Committee's efforts to approve initiatives and to lead/support company-wide projects
- Manage the integration of Asset operations with Asset trading to ensure seamless financial and operational results
- Work closely with Information Technology and Operational Technology in the development, testing, and implementation of hardware and software products to improve operations and ensure strong cybersecurity controls
- Troubleshoot BESS project level technical or operational issues to ensure successful performance and revenue achievement
- Consult on processes for optimizing energy revenue in the Day Ahead and Real Time markets in conjunction with Plus Power's algorithmic trading program and Energy Trading
- Lead cross-functional projects relative to system implementations and enhancements, quantitative modeling, and process improvement
- Review and present analyses, memos, and profit and loss results to senior management following significant market events and to address risk mitigation opportunities
- Help build an industry leading Operating Company team by spearheading recruitment for key roles
- Develop the next set of leaders for Plus Power through training, mentoring, and managing members of the Operating Company team
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, or related field; Masters degree preferred
- 10-15+ years in North American electricity and natural gas Asset Operations with progressively increasing levels of responsibility
- Experience trading DA-RT markets in ERCOT, ISO-NE, PJM, and other RTOs
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members
- Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills - with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management
- Demonstrated experience and success in a management role
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop and manage high-performing teams
- Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and take initiative to drive solutions
- Ability to work effectively without direct supervision in a fast-paced organization
- Experience successfully leading and delivering projects under tight deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and create capacity
- Ability to anticipate unique business situations and respond accordingly
- Intermediate to advance skills in Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Excel, Power Point
Compensation, Location, and Benefits
Highly competitive total compensation from one of North America's leading energy storage developers, owners and operators. Flexible, work from home or hybrid work from Plus Power's offices in San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Seattle, and Palm Beach.
The expected salary range* for this position begins at $260,000. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, geographic labor market, and other factors consistent with applicable law. This position is also eligible to participate in our annual bonus program.
