Ready to join a growing veterinary care team where community comes first? If so, Berkshire Humane Society is the place for you! We’re looking for one or more versatile full-or part-time licensed veterinary technicians or veterinary assistants to help us serve animals and people in Berkshire County, Massachusetts and beyond. It’s an exciting time as our nonprofit organization launches a new five-year strategic plan to better meet needs of shelter animals and underserved cat and dog owners in the community. You’ll join our new team of shelter veterinarians and vet techs in the second year of our medical program for companion animals, the goal of which is to serve homeless animals at our shelter to prepare them for adoption and to offer quality, affordable and accessible veterinary care to the public at our wellness clinic. We’re expanding our services to include more low-cost basic preventative and spay and neuter services and urgent care.
At Berkshire Humane Society, we take seriously the “Society” part of our name. We’re people working as a family for a nonprofit, not a corporation. We’re all about community! As an employee, you’ll be part of a passionate team of dedicated animal lovers who help place homeless animals and keep pets in their loving homes. You’ll also enjoy the support of our many volunteers, small businesses and donors who believe in what we do.
Our main shelter is in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Our area is called the “Barkshires” by animal lovers, because it’s a great place to explore the outdoors with a dog. The Appalachian Trail traverses our scenic Berkshire hills, an area as rich in cultural history as in natural beauty. Authors Herman Melville, Edith Wharton and Nathaniel Hawthorne lived in the area and other attractions include Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, the Norman Rockwell Museum, Clark Art Institute and Mass MoCA. As a member of our family, you’ll have time to enjoy all these treasures.
Berkshire Humane Society is an independent nonprofit and socially conscious shelter with the mission of compassionate care, treatment and placement of companion animals, while promoting and improving the welfare of all animals through education and outreach. Our vision is compassionate and responsible care for all animals and our values include compassion, empathy, accountability and transparency in all we do; respect and dignity for every being without judgement; and excellence in service, advocacy and teamwork.
