The Veterinary Clinic is a companion animal hospital with a mission to provide quality care to Fairfield and the surrounding area's pets. We are looking for someone to join our team to help us accomplish that mission. The perfect candidate would be reliable, have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and a passion for animals. Experience in veterinary medicine is helpful, however we are very willing to train the right candidate who is willing to learn and grow their knowledge and skillset.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partners with a veterinarian to manage patient appointments from start to finish
- Uses practice management system (Cornerstone) for scheduling, medical records, and invoicing
- Greets pet owners in a familiar and friendly manner, speaks with them about their pets needs with compassion and knowledge
- Takes medical histories and vital signs of patients
- Manages client communication via phone, email, and other platforms
- Be familiar with hospital product and service costs for accurate estimates and invoices

- processes and logs prescription refills in-house and from alternate pharmacies
- Monitors hospital patients and logging vital signs
- Administers medications to patients as needed
- Places catheters and performs blood draws
- Restrains and assists the doctor during exams, treatments, and anesthesia procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Many of the tasks listed above may require additional training provided by the hospital, and a willingness to learn is necessary. The employee must be able to multi-task. Education/Experience:
Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Preferred: 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered Veterinary Technicians in Iowa are preferred, not necessarily required. We are open and willing to train the right candidate.
Schedule:
This position is full-time. A typical schedule at The Veterinary Clinic is 8 hour shifts (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with a 1 hour lunch) 4 days a week. The hospital is closed on Saturday and Sunday, therefore this position will not be scheduled for weekends.
