Job Summary:
Instruct and assist year-four professional veterinary students. Maintain equipment and supplies inventory in clinical areas. Provide high quality veterinary technical assistance in several clinics/departments of the VTH including small animal medicine and surgery, small animal ICU, equine medicine and surgery, food animal medicine and surgery etc.
Employee must be available after hours on a pre-scheduled basis for emergency duty. Compensation for after hours technical assistance complies with university stand-by and call-in compensation policy.

Required Qualifications:
High School/GED
Two years related experience; or Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program with two years related experience; or Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences or related area.
Experience in restraint of small and large animals, administering injections, and placement of IV (peripheral, central, and urinary) catheters is essential. Must have knowledge of equipment used within VTH including, but not limited to: personal computer, telephone, copy machine, laser, video endoscope, diagnostic lab equipment, camera/video camera, electrodiagnostic equipment, etc.
Must be physically capable of lifting animals weighing 50 pounds or greater onto exam tables and into elevated cages.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology
Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA; or have credentials in specialty that VTH defines as meriting recognition; or ten years experience as a Veterinary Technician II or equivalent at an AVMA accredited teaching hospital, or large, multi-clinician private veterinary practice
Ability to perform assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision.
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).
