JOB TITLE: Maintenance Mechanic III

The Maintenance Mechanic III is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all equipment and facilities at the skill level outlined in the Maintenance Skills Based Matrix. This includes building fixtures, jigs, general plant maintenance, basic to mid-level hydraulic, electrical repair and welding and general plant maintenance. Maintenance Mechanic III must have an immediate understanding of HVAC systems and injection molding plastics processing experience. This position requires advanced machining skills, and an advanced understanding and repair of mold and hot-runner systems, water-tower and cooling systems, and a working knowledge of material drying systems operations and conveyance, and well as a basic understanding of injection molding plastics processing. The Maintenance Mechanic III will work with the Maintenance Manager to foster continuous improvement across the organization. This position requires basic computer, Excel, and Word skills, or equivalent.


KEY RESULT AREAS:

  • Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing, analyzing, tuning and or improving performance of injection molding, auxiliary, and support equipment pertaining to the manufacturing operation. Root cause analysis, sustainment and performance of preventative maintenance schedules are essential.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and repair of rotational molding equipment.
  • Responsible for reporting any safety issues immediately to the Maintenance Manager.
  • General plant maintenance, upkeep and repair are included.
  • Responsible for working with, and assisting Technicians with production start-ups, communicating effectively with production supervisors on machine availability and status.
  • Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager and Lead Maintenance Technician. Works with and reports to production supervisor for direction without Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Lead Mechanic. The performance of the Maintenance Mechanic III can have a profound effect on productivity through timely, efficient, and effective maintenance and repair of all equipment.
  • Responsible for working approved overtime, as determined by production needs and Maintenance Manager. This position may be reassigned to any shift based on production and maintenance needs.
  • Responsible for controlling own daily activities within assignments, their job description, and company policy, in such a way as to produce maximum results in available time.
  • Responsible for immediately correcting any unsafe conditions observed, that are within own capabilities to correct, and responsible for reporting any unsafe conditions outside of own capabilities to correct. Also responsible for good housekeeping and adhering to all safety training and practices in all areas.
  • Responsible for aiding in own self development, by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
  • Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager and Lead Maintenance Technician. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Certificate from college or technical school; or five-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

The type of experience required to effectively perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this position are:

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Any technical training or certifications is a plus.
  • Experience working in a plastic manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use machining equipment, tools, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
  • Exposure to welding or welding fabrication.
  • Hydraulic knowledge or experience.
  • Mechanical knowledge or experience.
  • Ability to read and understand multimeter AC/DC/Ohm
  • Basic PLC Knowledge
  • Electrical Experience, able to wire a plug or receptacle.
  • HVAC Knowledge and how to diagnose problems.

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

  • Up to 5% travel, in support of multiple distribution centers and corporate initiatives
