Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist DVMs during examinations, vaccinations and treatments
• Confidently perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples
• Collect other lab specimen, such as samples for ear cytology, intestinal parasite screening or skin cytology.
• Run labarotory test in-house and package outside lab samples
• Confidently place IV catheters
• Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the DVM
• some administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and keeping accurate records and logs in patient records
• Prioritizing appointments based on urgency
• Communicate doctor recommendations on nutrition and healthcare to pet owners
• Collect patient history and anticipate DVM needs with appointments
• Prep and assist with surgery
• Sterilize equipment and clean examination tables and rooms, and treatment area

Requirements:

• Minimum one year Veterinary Assistant experienced
• Excellent communication skills

• Ability to accurately follow instructions and protocols
• Problem solving skills
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g., lift up to 40 lbs., stand for long periods)
• Available every other Saturday and occasional holiday rounds

***Hourly rate based upon experience.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 – 40 per week

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 4x10
• Day shift
• No nights
• Rotating weekends

Experience:

• Veterinary assistant: 1 year (Required)
