Veteran Facilitator

Salary $45,000 year

Scope of Position

· Maintain a classroom conducive to learning

· Model positive and professional behavior

· Deliver workshops that engage Veteran customers and prepare them with the skills they need to find jobs

· Provide facilitator coverage for other workshops as needed

· Develop effective promotional materials and strategies for program staff to use in promoting workshop attendance

· Support the use of virtual tools and services

· Support all other teams

· Assist jobseekers with creating resumes

· Conduct mock interviews with program customers

· Proctor computerized exams

· Other duties as assigned

Essential Functions

· Create and maintain an environment that promotes opportunities for quality interaction and learning through:

o Establishing clear expectations and encouraging client accountability

o Implementing a structure and plan consistent with prescribed curriculum goals

o Maintaining an awareness of differences in individual learning styles and strengths

· Implement quality instructional practices

o Vary methods of instruction to encourage attention and interest

o Utilize materials and activities to respond to differences in learning styles

o Facilitate active learning

o Demonstrate an awareness and commitment to the balance of individual and group needs

o Complete identified curriculum tasks including job readiness, portfolio documentation and preparation for interviewing

· Model positive and professional behavior

o Demonstrate positive, pro-social interactions with clients, staff and community representatives

o Understand the Veteran population and use motivational tools to support them

o Use written and spoken language adequately

o Use language reflective of a commitment to diversity; demonstrate cultural competence

o Model respect and professionalism in all situations

· Demonstrate allegiance to the policies, procedures and expectations of EDSI

o Maintain timely and complete documentation, as prescribed

o Participate in required program and community meetings

o Collaborate effectively and communicate proactively with staff and clients

· Other opportunities as available

Education and Experience Requirements

· Experience in training, education or career development with the Veteran population

· Able to interact with a wide variety of individuals and demonstrate a positive professional attitude

· Experience in a team-oriented environment

· Bachelor degree in business, education, training, human resources, liberal arts or related area is preferred
