Verbatim CourtTranscript Editor/Proofreader (Contract)

We are seeking a talented and experienced Verbatim CourtTranscript Editor/Proofreader to join our team. This contracted position offers an opportunity for experienced verbatim transcript editors to showcase their skills while enjoying the flexibility of setting their own working hours.
Position Overview: As an integral part of the transcription process, you will be responsible for meticulously editing and proofreading court transcripts to ensure accuracy and adherence to verbatim standards. This role offers flexible hours, allowing you to set your own schedule, but it comes with the challenge of meeting a volume requirement averaging 20 hours per week. Applicants will be required to complete a skills assessment test. The compensation for this position starts at $0.30 per page.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transcription Editing: Review and edit court transcripts for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to verbatim standards.
- Proofreading: Ensure grammatical correctness, proper punctuation, and consistency in the transcribed content.
- Adherence to Guidelines: Follow provided guidelines and instructions to meet the quality standards set by the organization.
- Time Management: Efficiently manage workload to meet the target of 20 hours per week while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Communication: Collaborate with team members, providing feedback and updates on the status of assigned transcripts.
Qualifications:
- Verbatim Transcription Experience: Proven experience in Verbatim Court transcription editing and proofreading.
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in transcriptions.
- Legal Format Knowledge: Familiarity with format of court proceedings.
- Flexibility: Adaptability to the challenging nature of the work and varying transcription styles.
- Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently and set and achieve personal productivity goals.

- Internet Connection: Strong and reliable internet connection for seamless communication.
- Transcription Pedal: A transcription foot pedal for hands-free control of audio playback during the transcription process.
- Transcription Headphones: High-quality transcription headphones for clear and accurate listening to audio recordings.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
