Job Description
The 1st Judicial District of the Iowa Judicial Branch has immediate openings for a Court Reporter:
- Black Hawk County under Judge Jacobsen
- Black Hawk County under Judge Wegman
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Captures court testimony and proceedings with stenography machine.
- Reads back court testimony and proceedings upon request.
- Prepares transcripts, performs general office work.
- Marks and records exhibits during court proceedings.
- Performs related work as determined by Judge, Chief Judge or designee.
- Electronic document filing required in all counites within District 1.
- May be required to work for any Judicial Officer in the 1st District per operational needs.
- May require travel

Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from high school (GED); graduation from a school of court reporting with courses including legal and medical terminology, English, typing and law.
Must be certified as a Court Reporter by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters or become certified within one (1) year of hire.
