Veggie and Seasonal Sales Track at Local Nursery

Orchard Nursery is a family-owned, local, one-location retail nursery. We are well-known in the Bay Area for a wide selection of quality plants, in addition to our large houseplant offerings and garden-themed gift shop. We pride ourselves on our full-service customer support and extensive knowledge specific to our area.

We are looking to nurture the next generation of nursery salespeople! This individual(s) will be joining our team this spring in our vegetable and annual flowers sections. Vast plant knowledge is not required, but passion for gardening is a must!

Successful candidates are self-motivated, friendly, and excited about sharing their love of plants with others.

Job Responsibilities

• Helps with unloading trucks.
• Helps with stocking, watering, and maintaining plant displays.
• Cares for plant material (watering, deadheading, and fertilizing).
• Greets customers and helps answer questions about their basic gardening projects.

Job Qualifications

• Possesses beginner plant knowledge and/or passion for gardening (veggie garden experience is a big plus!)
• Excited to expand plant knowledge.
• Works well in both team and independent settings and is a clear communicator.
• Is proactive and a self-starter.
• Must be able to work weekends.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able and willing to work outdoors in varying conditions (cold and wet, hot and dry)
• Must be able and willing to safely lift up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able and willing to twist, bend, and squat repetitively throughout the day.
• Must be able and willing to lift and reach above shoulder height.
• Must be able and willing to work weekends.

Wage Transparency

Per CA law, the wage range for this position is $17-$19/hr. Starting wage is dependent on experience. For mor information, please inquire. If selected, staff members can expect to work 30-40 hours per week. This is a seasonal/temporary position, typically lasting from March through June, though this is extremely dependent on weather conditions and staffing needs.
