You possess strong intellectual curiosity, are skilled in problem definition, and are capable of conducting rigorous analyses to develop actionable recommendations using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. You enjoy applying high-level strategic thinking to complex research questions. You are passionate about the consumer and bringing their voice to the table.

The Senior Researcher will report to the Senior Director of User Experience Research and will be responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative research to help us understand the audio consumer, the audio landscape, and to help develop new audio products and features both in and out of the car. The primary responsibility for this position is leading, managing and executing primary research to uncover user needs, and continue that research to help develop and refine new and innovative digital, voice, and multimodal products, experiences, and features.

What you'll do:

  • Serve as strategic insights partner for SiriusXM, with a focus on user experience research to help inform the strategic product roadmap

  • Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative studies, including field studies, focus groups, interviews, usability, surveys, and tracking studies

  • Manage the research process from start to finish: creating discussion guides and surveys, conducting qualitative research, analyzing data, writing reports, and presenting findings and design recommendations to stakeholders

  • Work closely with program & product managers, UX team members, and product stakeholders to efficiently develop research plans that are consistent with business goals and objectives

  • Deliver findings to support insights driven development cycle with minimal guidance. (Ex. Topline summary reports, full presentation decks, insights visualizations, etc.)

  • Advocate for consumer needs and solutions with data-driven recommendations using empirical data and research; anticipate and address the tough questions

  • Identify new business opportunities uncovered during testing and research that should be investigated

  • Assist teams with implementing recommendations through continued advocacy and thought leadership

What you'll need:

  • 2+ years hands on experience with generative and evaluative user research methodologies as well as expertise gathering and analyzing quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods data

  • Experience with user research covering a variety of user interfaces such as visual, voice-based, and gestures

  • Experience with a fast paced iterative design and development process and delivering proactive research to inform and support each stage

  • Great data visualization and presentation skills and ability to provide actionable design recommendations as well as high level strategic recommendations based on insights

  • MA/MS or Ph.D in behavioral science or closely related discipline, including but not limited to: Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Psychology (Cognitive or Experimental), Design Research, or relevant work experience

  • Experience conducting research in the entertainment or automotive industries is a plus

  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $60/hr to $75/hr and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
