Job description

A Little Bit About Us:

Credence is one of the longest-established companies in the background screening industry, with a senior management team that similarly has a long history of working in the international background check market.

As a background screening company, this is the expertise we rely on to provide excellent service to clients – no matter the field.

How Credence & Certn work together

Credence has recently been acquired by Certn, a leader in background screening solutions in North America. Together, we are diversifying our offerings and are bringing AI-driven background checks into the UK!

Certn is a growing global technology company that’s revolutionizing background screening and reinventing the way businesses build trust. We’re proud to be backed by over $114M in funding and have been named Deloitte Canada’s second-fastest-growing company on the Technology Fast 50.

Who are Certonians?

We’re soccer players, DIY creators, spicy food lovers, karaoke superstars, wine connoisseurs, and so much more! We are a team of 300+ people currently living the dream at Certn and we’re looking for more team members to level us up. If you’re excited about working with a group that values accountability, working collaboratively across time zones, being inclusive of different perspectives, and approaching problems with compassion and empathy – we want to hear from you!

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a UX Researcher to join our team and play a key role in enhancing our products and research methodologies. As a champion of UX research excellence, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with researchers, designers, developers, product managers, and various cross-functional stakeholders. Reporting to our Team Lead of Product Design, the UX Researcher will drive innovation and uncover opportunities to shape a product with significant global impact. Join us in making a difference on a global scale through the power of user experience research.

Please note that this position is a 12-month mat leave contract. The application deadline is Friday, April 12, 2024.

As our UX Researcher, you can expect to:

  • Use mixed-methods research to identify, prioritize, and plan research opportunities with cross-functional teams.

  • Design and implement studies aligned with project timelines and business needs using various research methods.

  • Translate research findings into actionable recommendations for product teams, integrating insights into product strategies.

  • Contribute to idea development by leveraging research insights for innovation and product enhancement.

  • Manage and enhance the research repository and documentation, guiding teams on research strategies.

  • Participate in workshops to share insights and enhance products based on research.

  • Support UX research improvement within teams through evaluations and feedback.

  • Attend industry events to stay updated on UX research trends and technologies, enhancing research practices.

  • Foster collaboration by communicating research strategies among teams and leadership.

  • Mentor team members to enhance UX capabilities and contribute to research initiatives.

  • Stay informed on industry trends to drive continuous improvement in research practices.

We’re hoping you will bring:

  • 3+ years experience in a SaaS UX role, with a deep passion for data, and a rich background of leading product and user research experiments using a variety of methodologies.

  • An understanding/intuition for UX best design practice.

  • Proficiency in utilizing a mix of qualitative and quantitative research methods to gather insights and drive decision-making.

  • Experience in conducting usability testing, interviews, surveys, workshops, and data analysis.

  • Confidence working across the research process, always with an emphasis on creating an enjoyable and seamless experience for research participants.

  • Fantastic communication and storytelling skills; a storytelling champion who shares research insights with cross-functional teams in a compelling way.

  • Enthusiastic about exploring and incorporating new research tools and strategies to enhance our dynamic and forward-thinking research approach.

  • Portfolio examples of work you’re proud of. Show us how you’ve shared your research in style!

The following will be considered an asset:

  • Experience lifting the bar as part of a world-class design and research team.

  • Familiarity with the background check industry or personal data management domain.

  • Knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to research and user experience.
