Job Summary
Dr. Lindsay Gezinski is looking to hire a UU Student – Research (job code 0672) to support Engaging Survivors of Sex Trafficking in HIV and Substance Use Disorder Services: A Feasibility Study. This position is not eligible for the Graduate Tuition Benefit Program. The position will be approximately 20 hours per week May 16, 2024 through December 31, 2024. All applicants must be employment eligible and an active University of Utah student during the employment period. Hybrid work is negotiable – some research interviews may be conducted in-person.
Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct literature reviews and evaluate peer-reviewed research.
Assist in the development and implementation of research protocols and data collection instruments.
Recruit and screen research study participants and assist with scheduling.
Explain and obtain informed consent and maintain records to ensure confidentiality.
Conduct virtual and/or in-person interviews with stakeholders in the areas of sex trafficking, HIV , and/or substance use disorder services.
Organize and analyze qualitative data using appropriate methods and software.
Assist in writing reports and academic publications on research findings.
Participate in strategic planning and grant writing to scale-up project.
Collaborate with community partners and organizations to enhance the relevance and impact of the research findings.
Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills, particularly empathy and sensitivity when working with vulnerable populations.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Knowledge or interest in issues related to sex trafficking, HIV , substance use disorders, harm reduction, and/or trauma-informed care.
Adherence to ethical principles as outlined in the NASW Code of Ethics.
Enthusiasm for contributing to meaningful research that addresses pressing social issues.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferences
Graduate work in Social Work or a related discipline preferred.
Familiarity with qualitative research methods, including data collection and analysis techniques.
Proficiency in qualitative data analysis software such as NVivo or Dedoose.
Prior experience with community-based research and/or working with marginalized communities is desirable but not required.
