General Statement of Duties:
Control water in canals and ditches and pipelines. Performs maintenance and construction work of the irrigation system and grounds. Courteously and tactfully interacts with the public in occasionally stressful situations. This position is considered safety sensitive.

Works under the general supervision of Water Operations Lead.

Examples of Typical Work:
An employee in this position may perform any of the following duties, however, the examples may not include all the specific tasks which the employee may be expected to perform.
1. Follow the directions of your Lead as assigned by the Water Operations Lead.
2. During water season rides assigned canal daily (inspect canal, adjust canal
levels clean weed racks, and complete work orders as assigned).
3. Performs duties of Laborer, Utility Worker and Equipment Operator as
assigned.
4. Complete paperwork related to the job.
5. Assists in the installation of PVC pipe and distribution boxes, maintenance
of the irrigation system.
6. Operate equipment such as backhoe, tractor, mower, dump truck, and a
variety of power and hand tools.
7. Responsible for vehicle and equipment assigned to perform maintenance
duties.
8. General care of vehicles and equipment used for job assignments (gas, oil,
etc., including cleaning of vehicles inside and out).
9. Weekend and on-call work required as scheduled.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
1. Follow the established schedule for assigned ditch ride.
2. Perform strenuous physical work, often outside, for extended periods
under unfavorable conditions.
3. Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
4. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow
employees.
5. Ensure courteous and tactful interactions with the public in various
circumstances.
6. Acquire applicable certificates or licenses as required by the position.
7. Consistently lift 80 lbs. if necessary.
8. Ride/drive a pickup truck eight hours over rough roads stopping and
getting in and out frequently.
Experience and Training:
High school diploma or GED.
Required Licenses & Certifications:
Valid Washington drivers license and clean driving record

All qualified applicants must pass a physical exam and drug screening prior to employment as required by the District.
