Job Overview:
We are seeking a part time or full time skilled and reliable Utility Worker to join our team. As a Utility Worker, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support the operations of our organization. This is a hands-on role that requires mechanical knowledge and the ability to operate heavy equipment.
Position Overview: The primary work role is Shipping, receiving with a secondary role of Utilities/ Maintenance that will be conducted as time and workload allows. The prioritization of work is subject to change based on vacation schedules and workload.
The Utilities Worker position is responsible for verifying and maintaining records on incoming shipments; receiving and distributing material based on need in a job shop production environment; and maintaining accurate and adequate quantities of inventory. This position is also responsible for verifying and maintaining records on outgoing shipments and preparing product for outbound shipment. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or material, and arranging for the transportation of products; in addition to general maintenance of the buildings and grounds.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Shipping
- Take direction from Shipping & Receiving Manager regarding shipping and schedule
- Prepare documents such as packing slips, bills of lading, and shippers letter of intent (SLI) (for International shipments)
- Package via box, pallet, crate, band or other method; seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
- Notify the front office and appropriate personnel of the shipment
- Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, rates, and customer preference
- Contact shipping company and load truck as needed
Receiving
- Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, packing slips, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments.
- Receive material into Allied Circuits business system/Epicor in accurate fashion.
- Kitting/Picking - Assign incoming material to production job number in designated location on production shelf.
- Confer or correspond with appropriate personal to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
- Work closely with production to meet material requirements.
- Deliver or route materials using devices such as hand truck/pallet jack, forklift, or sorting bins/job boxes.
- Physically return raw material to inventory and quantity adjust into the business system as needed
- Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness
- Conduct cycle counts daily
General Building Maintenance
- Make sure shop floor (production and common areas) is kept neat and clear of debris
- Process scrap materials
- Perform general building maintenance within skill capabilities
- Maintain adequate charge on forklift
- Empty building garbage
- Maintain pallet inventory in an organized manner
- Perform snow removal duties as needed (personal snow gear is required; boots, pants, hat, gloves, etc.)
- Clean Windows and perform additional cleaning as needed
- Identify improvements to current floor layout and obtain approval for any efforts to improve
- Coordinate with Production Manager and Team-Leader to store and retrieve inventory as needed in an effort to optimize floor space
- Perform any additionally assigned duties as requested
Wire Prep & Assembly/Utilities
- Cut wire to lengths
- Strip Wire
- Prepare and apply Adhesive Labels.
- Crimp Ferrules onto wires
- Solder Wires
- Perform minor part and cable assembly
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency with e-mail communication
- Ability to communicate effectively (written or verbal).
- Have good team working skills
- Exercise 100% accuracy in all functions of the position
- May occasionally be required to use their personal vehicle with reimbursements at standard mileage rates

Experience:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years previous experience
