Job Description
Operation of packaging machinery in a manufacturing environment. Utility Operator I must make decisions to resolve deviations in daily operations by evaluating situations against standard operating procedures of quality and production. Establishes credibility of finished goods through inspection. This is a learning position. Utility Operator I is assigned to their initial technology for a four to six week training period. Failure to complete Utility Operator I training within 12 weeks of hire will result in removal from position or termination unless a training line has been documented as noted on the scorecard as unavailable for more than 25% of the time. Utility Operator I is allowed to remain in this role with atleast one technology validation for up to nine months. During this period, the team member must learn to run two technologies and perform the essential duties listed below. If, at the end of this nine month period, the team member is unable to pass validations on two technologies, he/she will be moved from this position or terminated.
Essential Duties
· Starts and stops machine. Understands safety rules as they pertain to the starts and stops of machinery.
· Learns to operate a minimum of two (2) technologies.
· Detects malfunctions of machinery, such as jams, and applies basic maintenance adjustments such as clearing away damaged raw materials.
· Loads all raw materials, such as cartons, leaflets and cartridges to conveyers and other feeding devices.
· Replenishes packaging supplies and sets up raw materials on the line for changes in orders.
· Performs quality audits on finished goods and records efficiencies of line production routinely and accurately.
· Coordinates work assignments with team members.
· Performs minor maintenance of highly automated robotic equipment and maintains general housekeeping.
· Provides direction for contract staff designated to lines.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
· Regular attendance.
Required Education and Experience
· High School Diploma or GED preferred
· Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and the functions of a calculator
· Ability to communicate orally and in writing
· Ability to perform basic computer functions with training
