The City of Junction City is hiring for a Utility Billing Clerk to join the team! This position is a Full-Time, union contract position. Starting wage is $3,168 to $3,566 monthly salary.

General Position Summary:
This position performs a variety of duties representing the City as the first point of contact with citizens and the public by responding to inquiries and requests from the public, maintaining confidentiality, processing payments, produce receipts and record payments, and daily general office tasks and administrative duties with established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers at reception window and over the phone.
- Answer, direct, and take messages of phone calls.
- Respond to specific questions, concerns, complaints, and requests concerning utility and garbage billings and services.
- Respond to general questions and inquiries, provide information as requested.
- Accept and process applications for new customer services.
- Initiate service orders to establishment of service, discontinuation of service, and service problems.
- Accept cash, check, and credit card payments for utility bills.
- Prepare and distribute payment receipts.
- Count, balance, and prepare deposit for interdepartmental payments.
- Enter utility payments into Utility Billing program, create and balance by batch.
- Maintain account information in computer system. Retrieve and sort incoming mail, as well as gather and process outgoing mail.
- Provide regular clerical support to other public works departments including, but not limited to filing, mass mailing, data entry, generation of letters, and file creation and updating.
- Calculate and process account adjustments.
- Take deposits to bank. Order and maintain supply of office and computer supplies and equipment.
Job Skills Required:
- Ability to remain calm and productive in stressful situations when customers may become upset
- Communicate via phone, email, mail, and in person continuously with citizens, other staff members, and personnel from outside agencies.
- Establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with employees, city departments, and other agencies.
- Cashier: count money and make change in an accurate manner Demonstrate an increased level of professional judgment and discretion.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- 2 years of related experience in an office and/or business, including Utility Billing practices and procedures.
- Customer service experience
Work Environment: This position is generally performed in comfortable conditions, in an office setting. Exposure to different low levels of noise from background noise, such as office equipment.
