Work hours may include off hours and weekends if needed Must have Safety related experience within Research and Development or Pharma Employers. Open to those willing to relocate at their own expense. Bachelor's degree Min of 3+ years of experience - direct safety-related experience Senior HSE level experience required Self-driven, ability to take on projects Preferred / Nice to Have: 5+ years experience direct safety-related experience Background in chemical or biological safety Experience with training and new hire orientation such as (hazmat, blood-borne pathogen, etc.) Certification/ or willingness to obtain: CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) or RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act)Training (Strongly preferred) ASP Level I, or Level CSP Level II Candidates are responsible for the fees associated with certifications.
Description
1. Introduction
The EHS Specialist Service Provider serves an important and highly visible role helping to ensure that site HSE Management System (HSE-MS) requirements are appropriately implemented and maintained necessary to ensure safe site operations. This is a full-time role.
2. Objectives
The EHS Specialist Service Provider will support the Massachusetts R&D facilities to support site HSE Managers with the following HSE tasks and objectives:
Implementing, monitoring, and participating in the development of site environmental, Health and Safety programs (Contractor Safety, Ergonomics, Laboratory and Chemical Safety, Hazardous Waste, Wastewater, laboratory inspections, etc.)
Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental and occupational regulations and permits (Department of Environmental Protection, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Massachusetts Water Resources Authority and local permits).
Leading risk assessment processes, including, but not limited to job hazard analyses, hazardous chemicals and ergonomics.
Conducting comprehensive environmental, Health and Safety inspections of laboratories and facilities.
Providing technical assistance and advice to laboratory managers and employees regarding environmental Health and Safety issues.
Conducting accident/incident investigations.
Serving as lead on certain environmental, Health and Safety projects.
Providing initial in remote/in-person response to after-hours and weekend emergencies for an initial size up.
Conduct New Hire Orientation HSE training and implement other training programs as needed

Prior HSE experience in academic or commercial R&D facilities
Familiar with HSE-MS concepts
Minimum of 5 years of direct safety-related experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Environmental Science, or similar
Professional certification such as ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM
