Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
As a part of GM's Human Resources Group you are responsible for setting the strategy and handling compliance of Union Agreements related to compensation. You provide communication/counsel to leadership and lead in local negotiations.
This position is responsible for hourly corporate wage administration, supporting US Manufacturing, Engineering, and CCA locations.
From an operations perspective, you will support the US business functions in day-to-day compensation inquiries, relevant local agreements (wage, seniority, shift preference), and problem solve system-related issues that may arise. As a member of the Corporate Labor Relations Staff, you will work strategically with cross-functional teams to develop a strategy and approach for national bargaining.
What You'll Do
Wage Administration:
As it relates to Wages, Vacation, Holiday Pay, Shift Premium, Bonus Payments and Layoff/Leave Provisions:
Administer wage increases and bonus plans as defined in the national agreement
Provide interpretation and administration support to local HRLR teams
Serve as a SME and provide counsel to leadership teams and peer groups
Work with payroll and timekeeping teams to problem solve complex payroll issues and improve FTQ for on-time and accurate pay
Manage corporate wage audits to ensure wage plan assignments are correct
From a wage and vacation perspective, support timely and accurate administration of Appendix A transfers, terminations, reinstatements and temporary employee conversions
Support the administration of Supplemental Agreements:
US Hourly Profit Sharing Plan
US Hourly Supplemental Unemployment Benefit Plan
Play a principle role in national negotiations
Support special investigations as needed
Coordinate with plant management on wage-related matters for hourly personnel
Use data to drive decisions and improvement opportunities as it relates to wages, absenteeism, holiday pay, manpower on-roll, etc.
Frequent involvement with other work groups (i.e. Benefits, Payroll, Employee Placement, Sedgwick, Kronos, Workday, etc.) regarding employee issues, downstream data problems or other pertinent matters
Maintain an effective relationship with Management, Union Representatives, MFG Staffs and others outside the work group
Complete special projects/assignments as requested
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Administration or related field
5+ years of related experience in Labor Relations/Contract Administrations
Knowledge of corporate policies and procedures
MS Office Suite and working knowledge of payroll and HR System
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization
Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution, problem solving and data analytics
Ability to teach and develop the field organization in SME areas
A company vehicle will be provided for this role with successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Report review.

Experience in Labor Relations, Manufacturing or Services
Bargaining experience and ability to benchmark and strategic look-ahead in order to build out wage related strategy for future bargaining
Strong interpersonal skills in facilitation, negotiation and problem solving
Proven ability to work independently, take initiative and work to plan
Demonstrated analytical, organizational and project management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly proficient use of HR systems and computer software application skills (i.e. Workday, Kronos, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams)
Skill and proficiency in a wide range of LR, MFG and/or GBS practice areas
