Dean of the Class of 2028
Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school of about 1000 students located in the Park Slope section of New York City. For the 2024-25 school year, Berkeley Carroll will be hiring a 9th grade Dean to continue with that class through their graduation in 2028.
Deans are central to the life of the Upper School. Finally, dean candidates should possess a sense of humor and an ability to take feedback from various constituencies.
As deans typically teach two classes (half time), they should have ample high school teaching experience.

- Working constructively with student representatives and helping to organize class fundraising and events.
- Collaborating with the dean of faculty, dean of student life, Office of Equity and Inclusion and others in creating advising curriculum.
- Collaborating with the Student Support Team to identify necessary supports for students (academic, social-emotional), to decide on a plan of action, and to participate in enacting that plan.
- Working with the director of community action to coordinate the grade’s community action efforts and to keep track of individual students.
- Participating in the life of the school -- for example, helping to coordinate special events, and attending evening events and athletic contests.
