Overview
Spence’s Science Department seeks an experienced educator to join a department committed to collaboration, pedagogical inquiry, and to empowering girls and women in the sciences.
Responsibilities
Teach three sections of Upper School Biology
Collaborate with teaching teams to design curriculum, assessments, and teaching methods.
Participate in department-wide initiatives about issues of equity, pedagogy, and curriculum
Possibly serve as an Upper School advisor
Qualifications
Finds joy in working with children and in school life
Approaches work with optimism, energy, kindness, and a sense of humor
Demonstrates cultural competency and skills by engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
Demonstrates constructivist pedagogical skill, an appreciation for the science and the craft of teaching, and a love of science as a discipline
Regards collaboration as an essential component of professional growth and values working on a team
Enjoys a commitment that extends beyond the classroom, including contributions to the larger school community
Possesses sustained experience teaching Upper School Biology
Has an advanced degree or equivalent experience
