Responsibilities may include installation and care for site amenities, and management and maintenance. Employees may be expected to report the status of a site and care for the site either independently or as a team. Common tasks may include taking field notes measurements, quantification, site analysis, or inventory review. Project organizing and development including filing and research may be assigned.


Our goal is to help students develop and grow by cultivating an environment where they will be able to use their critical thinking and interpersonal skills to design, manage, and identify improvement opportunities and problem-solve for projects in spaces in Purdue University Residences. A minimum 10% of this position is oriented towards education and experiential learning detailing staff development where employees will be expected to grow both professionally and personally within our work culture.

Prerequisite(s)
Experience considered, but not required. You will be contacted by University Residences for an interview if you meet qualifications. An interview is not a guarantee of employment.


Qualifications
  • Student employee position
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
  • Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills (analytical prowess)
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to multi-task, work within deadlines, and be a self-starter
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Be timely and organized
  • Lift a 40 lb. object

Position Responsibilities
  • Maintain safety and risk management standards of the department
  • Exhibit friendliness, diplomacy, and tact in responding to customers
  • Handle emergency situations and prioritize responsibilities while continuing to provide the highest level of customer service
  • Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information
  • Provide feedback from a student lens
  • Present ideas to division senior leadership as identified
  • Demonstrate staff development periodically (collaborative learning, assist in the development of work culture, and relate learned skills across varied disciplines)
  • Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the semester)
  • Other duties as assigned

Starting Wage: $9.00 per hour
