Position Summary:

THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 3 YEARS.
The Departmental Research Administrator will work with the FBO Finance Service Center that will work with a mix of departments in the School of Medicine. The Departmental Research Administrator will supervise or assist assigned departments with account management and monitoring and compliance with government accounting methods, procedures, and accounting practices. The position will apply research administration policy and practices, and specifically, the position will supervise and/or assist departments with grant administration and management, as well as financial and data management. This will involve assisting departments with submitting grant proposals, to include budget assistance, coordination of data and information for grant applications, and submitting grants via applicable submission portal.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Ability to monitor and manage financial accounts for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and laws. Ability to manage reporting of complex financial areas or programs, including preparation of financial statements and reports. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Excellent organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Experience with grants and contracts. Thorough knowledge of government accounting methods, procedures, and accounting practices. Experience in a university and/or medical setting is preferred. Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification preferred. Knowledge of NIH, NSF, DOD, and other awarding agency regulations and requirements.
