Job description

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) on the Klamath Falls campus of Oregon Tech invites applications for a full-time, 12-month University Librarian, to start on or around July 1, 2024.
 

Position Summary: 
The University Librarian reports to the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. The University Librarian facilitates and provides dynamic and engaged leadership by working closely with the faculty, staff, students, and other key internal and external stakeholders. The University Librarian is expected to elevate the level of excellence of Oregon Tech’s renowned high quality, hands-on, and profession-oriented education nurturing our students to be career-ready professionals.
Under the supervision of the Provost, the University Librarian is the chief administrator of the Libraries of Oregon Tech. This includes the libraries at the Klamath Falls campus, the Portland-Metro campus, and the Shaw Historical Library. The University Librarian provides strategic leadership for the libraries in collaboration with other academic units and consortia partners in support of the mission of the University. The University Librarian develops and maintains positive relationships and active partnerships with students, faculty, staff, the community, and library consortia.
Additional responsibilities include service as the Library advocate and liaison at the institutional, statewide, and national levels. The University Librarian will represent the Oregon Tech Library on the Orbis Cascade Consortium Council and other related Alliance committees and teams. The successful incumbent will prioritize necessary maintenance, renovations, and updates to the library facility.

Qualification Requirements:

  • MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited institution and ten (10) or more years of professional experience in increasingly responsible positions in academic libraries, including administrative responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership.
  • Proven fiscal management experience for materials and personnel budgets.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and consensus-building skills.
  • A strong commitment to the educational role of the library.
  • A clear understanding of both information technology and information literacy and their changing roles in higher education.
  • Experience in strategic planning.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or second Master's degree.
  • Experience with university and library assessment.
  • Successful grant writing and fund raising.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the goals of the open education movement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in design thinking for library spaces, or experience with planning library spaces.
