Unit Secretary - Short Term Rehab Full Time 40 hours
GENERAL SCOPE: The primary purpose is to perform multi-functional receptionist and clerical duties on an assigned transitional care unit, which facilitates the smooth operation of the unit. This includes proper manage of medical records.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs multi-functional receptionist and clerical duties on an assigned short-stay rehab floor/households.
- Places and answers telephone calls in a professional manner. Directs calls to appropriate individuals and/or takes message.
- Communicates with residents, their families and visitors.
- Answers call bells. Prioritizes and relays messages to the appropriate nursing staff or responds to requests when able. Responds to requests in a timely manner.
- Types memos, meeting minutes and other Word documents. Creates Power Point presentations and Excel spreadsheets as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months related experience and/or relevant training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a position with similar responsibilities. Working knowledge and use of computers and computer software. Typing accuracy necessary.
