Unit Manager - Radiography - BWX Technologies, Inc - Barberton, Ohio
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for direction, administration, coordination and activities of the Radiographic Testing department (salary and hourly employees).
- Must have the capability to be appointed Radiation Safety Officer for administration, direction and compliance with Government, State and NOG-B radiation safety programs to ensure the health and safety of all NOG-B state certified radiographers, other NOG-B employees and contractors.
- Technical lead for the development and application of RT methods and techniques to satisfy contract requirements and Government specifications.
- Responsible for proper utilization of RT facilities, time and personnel assuring that output and performance conform to division and department standards.
- Investigates field problems and provides recommended resolution to discrepancies and or participates in rework/repair operations if required. Has contact with customer representatives and resolves problems within limitations of authority.
- Responsible for maintenance and calibration of all equipment. Maintains tools and supplies necessary for RT operational efficiency.
- Responsible for training personnel by providing classroom and on-the-job instruction. Responsible for personnel certification.
- Resolves unusual or complex problems by establishing special applications and techniques. Coordinates the effort in utilizing these special applications and techniques with immediate supervisor, subordinates, and other RT, QA Engineering, or Manufacturing personnel.
- Writes procedures and instructions to ensure RT operational efficiency.
- Serves as the primary interface with customer and government representatives on radiographic testing issues.
- Provides and administers RT training and qualification program in support of facility quality assurance programs
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have capability to certify as a NAVSEA RT Test Examiner and as SNT-TC-1A RT Level III.
- Requires 4 years completed college (e.g. BS or 2 + 2) or technical school equivalent
- 5 years RT experience preferred
- Qualifications include strong communication skills and a minimum three years' experience in quality applicable test methods.
- Leadership experience preferred
