Job Summary

Chartwells is adding a Senior Accountant/Unit Controller to our new business account at University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. Our accounting role will partner with our on-site food service operations team to provide accounting support at this new account.

As a Senior Accountant/Unit Controller with Chartwells and on-site at UW - Whitewater, this role will provide accounting and financial support for the amazing food service operations at the university. This role will combine your general ledger and reconciliation experience to provide ongoing operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads accurate and timely reconciliation of cash accounts including all bank statements, Depository Accounts, Corporate Insurance Accounts, and Corporate Investment Accounts
  • Partners with the regional staff to research and resolve ledger discrepancies and variances
  • Completes journal entries and provides various account reconciliations
  • Ensures third part billing is accurate and timely
  • Reviews A/P and A/R entries for correctness
  • Serves as liaison between field (Operations and Accounting), bank and third party banking vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Formal accounting training and two years of accounting experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in journal entries and the general ledger
  • Highly proficient knowledge of MS Excel
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment
  • Experience collaborating with team members
